REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum Grade 10 or an equivalent qualification
• Ability to read, write and understand simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
• Experience in a clinical or hospital environment will be an added advantage
• Willingness to work shifts, including night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• Ability to rotate between different departments according to operational needs
• Physically fit to perform duties such as lifting patients from beds, benches and wheelchairs
• Good communication skills
• Good telephone etiquette
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Basic understanding of safety and hygiene principles
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Transport patients from different service points to clinical areas and wards within the hospital
• Assist with offloading patients from ambulances and private vehicles onto wheelchairs or stretchers
• Ensure patient safety during transportation
• Clean stretchers and wheelchairs after use
• Transport corpses from wards to the mortuary
• Accurately complete the mortuary register
• Report faulty equipment to the supervisor for repairs
• Ensure equipment is properly stored
• Participate in administrative procedures of the mortuary
• Follow correct protocols when dealing with the public and bereaved families
• Ensure equipment is readily available for use at all times
• Perform other duties delegated by the supervisor
