Requirements
- Grade 10–12 or equivalent NQF Level 3–5 qualification.
- 1 year experience in food preparation/catering.
- 1 year exposure in a hospital environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Awareness of Batho Pele Principles.
- Ability to work in a team and under pressure.
- Must be willing to work shifts, night duty, weekends and public holidays.
Duties
- Cook according to the meal plan.
- Serve meals and distribute meals to wards.
- Prepare normal and therapeutic diets.
- Prepare food parcels.
- Perform routine food service tasks and operate food service equipment.
- Lift heavy buckets and trolleys when required.
- Apply hygiene and safety measures.
- Follow planned work schedules.
- Relieve in all areas of the food service unit when required.
- Wash dishes and utensils used in the food service units.
- Clean storerooms, refrigerators, equipment, drains and kitchen areas.
- Participate in continuous training and development.
- Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor.
