Requirements

  • Grade 10–12 or equivalent NQF Level 3–5 qualification.
  • 1 year experience in food preparation/catering.
  • 1 year exposure in a hospital environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Awareness of Batho Pele Principles.
  • Ability to work in a team and under pressure.
  • Must be willing to work shifts, night duty, weekends and public holidays.

Duties

  • Cook according to the meal plan.
  • Serve meals and distribute meals to wards.
  • Prepare normal and therapeutic diets.
  • Prepare food parcels.
  • Perform routine food service tasks and operate food service equipment.
  • Lift heavy buckets and trolleys when required.
  • Apply hygiene and safety measures.
  • Follow planned work schedules.
  • Relieve in all areas of the food service unit when required.
  • Wash dishes and utensils used in the food service units.
  • Clean storerooms, refrigerators, equipment, drains and kitchen areas.
  • Participate in continuous training and development.
  • Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor.
