Requirements
Minimum requirement:
- Basic numeracy and literacy.
Experience:
- Appropriate porter duty experience in a public health facility.
Inherent requirements of the job:
- Willingness to work shifts, including night shifts.
- Must be prepared to handle bodies (corpses).
- Valid (code B/EB) drivers licence.
Competencies (knowledge/skills):
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and to communicate in at least two of the three official languages spoken in the Western Cape.
Duties (key result areas/outputs):
- Accompany walking, patients and transport sitting/non-walking patients to various departments/ sections within the facility.
- Render assistance to nursing staff with the transfer of patients to beds/trolleys and vice versa.
- Management and maintenance of Oxygen cylinders within the Facility.
- Responsible for cleanliness, reporting defects of trolleys and wheelchairs including the replacement of trolley linen when necessary and assist with shifting of medical equipment to and from rooms.
- Assist with the transportation of corpses in trauma unit to designated area.
- Assist with driving duties when required including assistance with stock.
- Assist maintenance of grounds when required.
