Job Summary Statement

Moolmans offers services across the mining value chain, from shaft sinking, underground development, contract mining and open cut mining, to construction of mine infrastructure. The operating group’s experience spans a broad range of commodities and it has worked successfully in remote and challenging locations. The incumbent will be responsible for planning and scheduling the full spread of mining activities at an open cast or underground mining operation. Conducts pricing comparisons and feasibility studies and contributes to tender preparation. Assist existing operations with their mine planning and scheduling requirements.

Minimum Requirements

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS: • Tertiary Qualification in Mining Engineering EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS: • Previous exposure to an Open Cast mining environment will be advantageous but is not an absolute requirement • Knowledge of Open Cast Mining, Mine Planning & Scheduling • Experience in Cost Estimation would be advantageous • Valid Drivers’ license • No criminal record

Duties & Responsibilities

• Good Planning Software Skills in order to design blocks within the client’s pit shell. • Importing and scheduling these blocks in Software with the required mining experience. • Good understanding of life of mine plan and schedule. • Develop and sustain a short term mine plan within the Client’s life of mine or medium-term plan. • Measure and ensure as far as possible compliance to short term plan and schedule. • Load and Haul simulations and optimisation of dump schedules. • Fleet selection and optimisation for tenders. • Responsible for Mining engineering aspects of tenders including geological and geotechnical overview of the project. • Analysing technical fundamentals of tenders and benchmarking against similar actual results achieved. • Conducting ad-hoc investigational studies or continuous improvement exercises looking into mining cost engineering / technical areas where improvement can be translated into optimisation of tenders.

• Experience and capability in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Projects applications • Advanced SURPAC / XPAC / Deswik abilities • FPC / Talpac knowledge and ability • Strong numerical and verbal skills, technical aptitude • Knowledge of contract law and contractual matters
