SANPARKS FIELD GUARD EPWP VACANCIES – 6 POSTS AVAILABLE

South African National Parks (SANParks) is inviting applications for 6 Field Guard EPWP opportunities within the Biodiversity Social Projects at Marakele National Park.

The successful candidates will be appointed on fixed-term contracts until 31 March 2027 and will receive an EPWP wage of R311 per day.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have:

• Matric / Grade 12 / NCV Level 4
• Firearm competency – Self-Loading Rifle
• Knowledge of the Firearms Control Act
• Valid Regulation 79
• Completed Basic Field Ranger course or equivalent
• Valid SAPS clearance certificate
• Clean criminal record
• Basic understanding of Health & Safety
• At least 1 year’s experience as a Field Guard in a Big 5 Game Reserve
• Ability to remain alert during prolonged field operations
• Willingness to work weekends and after hours
• Ability to meet the role’s medical and physical fitness requirements

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a medical fitness assessment.

• Firearm competency – Manual Loading/Bolt Action

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Successful candidates will:

• Guard EPWP participants and contractors.
• Conduct field patrols and monitoring.
• Assist with authorised law-enforcement and conservation activities.
• Assist with access control and visitor/staff safety.
• Support area-integrity management.
• Assist with maintenance of fences, water points, roads and other infrastructure.
• Accurately record incidents and wildlife sightings.
• Assist with EPWP projects within the park.
• Support other park-management activities when requested by line managers.

PREFERENCE

Preference will be given to qualifying applicants from neighbouring communities and municipalities.
