This training opportunity is aimed at candidates with Grade 12 including Mathematics and Physical Science, or an N3 Technical Engineering qualification.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have either:

• Grade 12 / Standard 10 with Mathematics and Physical Science

OR

• N3 Technical Engineering in one of the following fields:
  • Chemical
  • Mechanical
  • Electrical
  • Metering Control & Instrumentation

Applicants must also:

• Have a valid Code 08–10 driver’s licence
• Have a good command of English
• Pass the required competency assessment covering technical ability, numerical, verbal and abstract reasoning

WHAT YOU WILL BE TRAINED TO DO

Trainee Controllers will receive training in the safe and efficient movement of petroleum products through the pipeline network.

Training will include:

• Pipeline operations and product movement
• Risk and pollution control
• Monitoring for leaks and spillages
• Monitoring separator tanks
• Handling transmixtures and intermixtures
• Operating specialised pipeline systems and software
• Capturing and verifying operational information
• Performing minor scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
• Launching and receiving pigs and spheres
• Operating product-metering equipment
• Monitoring pipeline shutdowns
• Performing product-quality tests
• Monitoring pipeline equipment and product movement
• Following company safety procedures and relevant legislation
