GOVERNMENT SECURITY OFFICER VACANCY – PSIRA GRADE C, NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have:

• Security Grade C or above
• Valid PSIRA certificate
• No previous experience required
• Knowledge of the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Knowledge of MISS
• Knowledge of the PSIRA Act
• Knowledge of workplace emergency procedures

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

• Perform access-control duties.
• Confirm visitor appointments.
• Direct visitors to the appropriate service points.
• Complete required admission-control documents.
• Escort visitors when required.
• Operate X-ray equipment where applicable.
• Lock and unlock entrances.
• Identify and report suspicious behaviour.
• Prevent unauthorised persons and dangerous objects from entering the premises.
• Conduct security patrols around the building.
• Check that doors are properly secured.
• Identify water leaks and other building risks.
• Identify fire and electrical hazards.
• Check for suspicious objects and packages.
• Apply emergency procedures when necessary.
• Alert emergency services and security management when required.
• Monitor assets entering and leaving the premises.
• Check that assets leaving the building have the required authorisation.
• Inspect vehicles entering and leaving the premises.
• Assist with reports relating to missing or stolen equipment.
• Handle documents at entry points according to relevant security requirements.
• Record incidents in occurrence books and registers.
