DRIVER VACANCY – CODE 14

Pepkor Lifestyle is looking for a skilled and dependable Linehaul Driver to join its Skooch Jetpark operation in Boksburg, Gauteng.

The successful candidate will transport goods between hubs and distribution centres, supporting PAXI deliveries and consumer goods movement.

NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have:

• Valid Code 14 driver’s licence
• Valid PDP
• Clear criminal record
• Clear driving record
• South African citizenship with a valid SA ID card
• At least 3 years’ experience driving 6×4 Truck Tractors
• Experience with trucks such as Scania, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo or MAN
• At least 3 years’ relevant trailer experience
• Minimum of 3 contactable references for vetting

TRAILER EXPERIENCE

Applicants must have experience with either:

• 3-axle, 14.5m dry or refrigerated trailers, OR
• 6m x 12m tautliner trailers

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

• Drive heavy-duty vehicles between hubs and distribution centres.
• Transport high-volume freight over long-distance routes.
• Complete pickups and deliveries according to schedule.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Ensure vehicles are roadworthy before travelling.
• Secure cargo to prevent movement, loss or damage.
• Maintain accurate mileage and driving-hour records.
• Follow traffic laws and company safety procedures.
• Follow assigned routes and schedules.
• Communicate with dispatchers.
• Report delays, incidents and operational problems.
• Perform basic vehicle maintenance and fault troubleshooting where required.
• Follow company freight-handling procedures.
• Support PAXI and consumer-product deliveries.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS THAT WILL BE AN ADVANTAGE

• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Ability to diagnose basic truck faults
• Previous freight logistics experience
• Experience securing loads
• Experience handling trailers
• Knowledge of transportation operations

WORKING CONDITIONS

Candidates must be prepared for:

• Long-distance driving
• Overnight stays
• Night driving
• Weekend shifts
• Public-holiday shifts
• Different weather and road conditions
