Protea Hotel Kimberley by Marriott is looking for a Bartender/Waiter to join its Food & Beverage team.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should preferably have:

• High school diploma / Grade 12 or equivalent
• At least 1 year of related work experience
• No supervisory experience required
• No specific licence or certification required
• Good communication and customer-service skills
• Professional and presentable appearance
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Ability to follow workplace health, safety and security procedures

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

• Prepare and serve drink orders according to specified recipes.
• Serve wine and other beverages.
• Set up and maintain the bar and service areas.
• Keep tables, equipment and work areas clean and organised.
• Prepare garnishes for beverages.
• Restock ice, glassware and other supplies.
• Wash and remove used glassware.
• Monitor stock and communicate replenishment requirements.
• Process customer payments.
• Complete required cashier procedures and reports.
• Perform end-of-shift cash procedures.
• Secure beverages and storage areas.
• Complete opening and closing duties.
• Welcome and acknowledge guests professionally.
• Anticipate and respond to guests’ service needs.
• Maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
• Follow quality, safety and security standards.
• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The position may require employees to:

• Stand, sit or walk for extended periods.
• Move and carry items weighing up to approximately 23 kg (50 lb).
• Bend, reach, twist and perform other movements required during service.
• Work around stairs, ramps and confined or uneven areas.
