Requirements

Grade 10–12 or equivalent NQF Level 3–5 qualification.
1 year experience in food preparation/catering.
1 year exposure in a hospital environment.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Awareness of Batho Pele Principles.
Ability to work in a team and under pressure.
Must be willing to work shifts, night duty, weekends and public holidays.

Duties

Cook according to the meal plan.
Serve meals and distribute meals to wards.
Prepare normal and therapeutic diets.
Prepare food parcels.
Perform routine food service tasks and operate food service equipment.
Lift heavy buckets and trolleys when required.
Apply hygiene and safety measures.
Follow planned work schedules.
Relieve in all areas of the food service unit when required.
Wash dishes and utensils used in the food service units.
Clean storerooms, refrigerators, equipment, drains and kitchen areas.
Participate in continuous training and development.
Perform any other duties delegated by the supervisor.
