MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have:

• Matric / Grade 12
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in cleaning, housekeeping or a similar position
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and hygiene standards
• Knowledge of the safe handling of cleaning products
• Ability to use basic cleaning equipment
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team
• Ability to work under pressure
• Reliable and punctual attitude
• Willingness to work outside normal College hours when necessary

Previous cleaning experience within a school, office, hospitality or institutional environment will be an advantage.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will:

• Clean classrooms, offices, corridors, bathrooms and common areas
• Sweep, mop, vacuum and dust designated areas
• Clean windows, furniture and other surfaces
• Empty bins and dispose of waste correctly
• Replenish hygiene and cleaning supplies
• Maintain cleaning equipment and materials
• Report maintenance problems, damage and safety hazards
• Follow health, safety and hygiene procedures
• Assist with cleaning during school activities and events
• Help set up College functions
• Perform other reasonable housekeeping duties
• Maintain a professional and respectful manner when dealing with learners, staff and visitors
