Western TVET College is inviting applications for 2 permanent Handyman positions at its Corporate Office and Randfontein.

These are permanent PERSAL appointments with a salary of R170 226 per annum plus benefits.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must have:

• ABET Level 4 / Standard 8 / Grade 10
• At least 1 to 6 months of relevant experience in semi-skilled manual labour
• Basic knowledge of building maintenance
• Knowledge of infrastructure policies and procedures
• Basic understanding of building laws
• Knowledge of the safe use and storage of tools
• Ability to operate relevant equipment
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Good reading, planning and organisational skills
• Problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a disciplined manner

A valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage.

Successful candidates may be required to provide services across all Western TVET College campuses/sites.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidates will:

• Perform general maintenance of office buildings.
• Conduct regular building inspections.
• Attend to minor electrical problems.
• Perform minor plumbing repairs.
• Assist with basic carpentry work.
• Maintain office equipment and furniture.
• Repair broken furniture and equipment.
• Report building and equipment defects.
• Clean and safely store maintenance tools.
• Safeguard maintenance tools and supplies.
• Perform duties according to instructions.
• Follow Occupational Health and Safety requirements.
