SECURITY OFFICER VACANCY – WOODLANDS & INDIGENOUS FORESTS
SALARY: R170 226 per annum

REQUIREMENTS:
• Grade 10 (NQF Level 2) or equivalent qualification
• Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSiRA) certificate
• No experience required
• Knowledge of access control procedures
• Knowledge of security processes and procedures
• Knowledge of CCTV operations
• Knowledge of emergency procedures
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Organisational and planning skills
• Decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to work under extreme pressure
• Conflict management and resolution skills
• Willingness to work long hours
DUTIES:
• Perform access control
• Identify suspicious conduct and prevent unauthorised access
• Ensure dangerous objects do not enter the premises
• Escort visitors to relevant employees or venues when required
• Prevent unauthorised removal of departmental equipment and assets
• Lock and unlock offices and access points
• Operate and monitor control room security equipment
• Conduct building and premises patrols
• Identify and report fire hazards and other safety risks
• Apply emergency procedures and alert emergency services when required
• Provide receptionist services
• Ensure the safety of staff and visitors
• Record incidents in the occurrence book/register
• Maintain security registers and records
• Check that visitors entering forests have approved licences as required
• Assist with fire management in the forest when required
• Report missing or stolen equipment and stores
• Obtain feedback from supervisors regarding reported incidents
PRE-ENTRY ASSESSMENTS:
All shortlisted candidates will be required to undertake two pre-entry assessments:
• Practical exercise
• Integrity (Ethical Conduct) Assessment
