Grade 10 or Grade 12.
One (1) year or more of cleaning experience in a hospital or clinical environment will be an added advantage.
Ability to read and write.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Physically fit and able to perform strenuous cleaning duties.
Willingness to rotate between wards and departments.
Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
Honest, reliable and responsible.
Ability to handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely.
Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices will be an added advantage.

Clean and maintain floors, walls, windows, doors, furniture, lockers, beds, curtains and blinds.
Clean outside areas, corridors and entrances.
Remove and dispose of waste according to hospital waste management policies.
Clean staff and patient refrigerators, microwaves, kitchens and other equipment.
Wash patients’ dishes, cups and utensils.
Safely use and maintain cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Clean spills immediately to maintain a safe environment.
Replenish soap, toilet paper, deodoriser blocks and air fresheners daily.
Collect patients’ meals and prepare tea according to the approved schedule.
Collect, receive and pack clean linen.
Complete daily cleaning checklists, attendance registers and delegation registers.
Report maintenance defects, hazards and shortages to the Supervisor or Unit Manager.
Maintain a clean, hygienic and safe environment.
Perform any other lawful duties delegated by the Supervisor.
