Requirements: Grade 10 plus Grade C PSIRA Certificate in Security Management and must be registered with PSIRA, coupled with 2 years of working experience in a security management environment. Competencies: Knowledge of Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act, Access Control Procedures, Trespass Act; Skills in dealing with the public; Ability to communicate well with people at different levels and from different backgrounds; High level of reliability; Ability to handle confidential information; Sound, verbal, and written communication skills; Ability to act with tact and discretion; ability to deal with the people; Good telephone Etiquette and interpersonal skills; Must be able to work under pressure, take initiative, and work independently and with a team; Self-motivated; Must be prepared to rotate and work shifts which include weekends, night and day shift and public holidays; Must not have a criminal record. A valid driver’s license will be an added advantage. The appointed candidates will be expected to report to PDMC and Johannesburg.

Duties: Protect state properties, employees, visitors in the facility 24 hours; Access control and searching of both vehicles and pedestrians; Report security breaches and defects to the Assistant Director: Physical Security and Security Management unit; Escort visitors and contractors; Write statement and incidents reports and submit to supervisor; Write and submit reports to supervisor as soon as possible; Conduct hourly patrol; Control of traffic on premises; Provide directions to staff, visitors and contractors; Operate and maintain security equipment’s; Monitor all surveillance security systems/cameras within the Control room in an efficient manner and in compliance with the operating procedures, legislation and best practice; Record all events, incidents and actions taken in a clear, legible and accurate written format; Ensure the security of the control room and equipment’s is maintained at all times and to report equipment failure to the Security Admin officer or Security Management; Operate X Ray Machine Equipment and Metal Detectors; Operate Alarm intruder control panel; Comply with security dress code always; Perform other duties as allocated by the supervisors; Comply with duty roster; Be willing to undergo continuous training and development Programme; Attend meetings as approved by the supervisor.
