Starke Ayres is the foremost African specialist and global supplier of premium vegetable, flower, and lawn seed varieties – both for commercial and home garden planting. The following position has become available for a Cashier, based in Rosebank, Cape Town.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interacts with customers in a friendly, courteous and efficient manner at all times.
Scan items and ensure pricing is correct.
Maintain clean and orderly checkout areas and complete other general cleaning duties around till areas.
Accepts full responsibility for the float, count money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that amounts are correct and that there is adequate change.
Accepts cash and credit cards and gift vouchers in exchange for goods in accordance with guidelines as laid down by the Company.
Informs the Superior of any discrepancies as directed.
Issues refunds to customers upon receipt received from the customer service desk.
Report problems with till points/equipment to management immediately.
Refer payment policies and procedures to superior.
Sell gift vouchers to customers and record them in accordance with company policy.
Refer product returns and exchanges to the customer service desk for processing.
Calculate and balance total daily takings against the cash up report and balance received float.
Assumes the responsibility of keeping the working area alongside the till point clean and tidy at all times.
Assists with any other reasonable tasks when called upon to do so by the Supervisor / superior on duty.
Acts responsibly and professionally at all times, fostering goodwill and a positive image of the Company.
Job Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

Grade 12 National Senior Certificate
Reside close to Rosebank / have reliable transport
Available to work on weekends and public holidays
1+ years of experience as a cashier
