Position Purpose:

As an IT Support Analyst at Transnet, you will serve as the single point of contact for technical support for end-users at Transnet sites. Your role will involve installing, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading computer hardware and software, along with disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and security solutions. You will be integral in ensuring that all required business activities continue functioning smoothly by minimizing downtime and providing ongoing desktop support.

Key Responsibilities:

Your daily tasks will include, but are not limited to:

1. Uptime Maintenance: Ensuring the reliability of network, internet, mail connectivity, and user logon access.
2. Efficient Business Processes: Using hardware and software tools to support business functions.
3. Server and User Access Support: Assisting end-users with basic troubleshooting and server configurations.
4. Backup Management: Overseeing the backup of user data across various devices, including laptops, iPads, and cellular devices.
5. ICT Security Measures: Implementing and maintaining security solutions.
6. Technical Support: Diagnosing and resolving software, hardware, network, and business application issues.
7. Quality Assurance: Testing new systems or processes and conducting research and development testing for hardware/software usability.
8. Printer and AV Support: Providing first-line support for network printers and video conferencing facilities.
9. Project Management: Executing ICT-related minor projects, managing full project life cycles.
10. Equipment Management: Overseeing equipment maintenance, updating software licenses, and maintaining hardware inventories.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

To be considered for this role, you need to have:

• A 3-year diploma or a National/Advanced Diploma (NQF 6/7) in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• A+ Certification and N+ Certification.
• At least 5 years of experience in desktop support, with exposure to supporting devices from brands such as Lenovo, HP, Dell, Acer, or Asus.
• ITIL Foundation Certification would be an advantage.
• A Driver’s License (code 08) and own transport are highly desirable.
• The ability to travel to other Transnet sites and potentially undertake travel outside South Africa.
