Job Description
Responsible for activities associated with general work around the DAF unit area, feather area, sump area and the entire abattoir in accordance with laid down instructions/ policies and procedures.

Requirements

Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
Able to work in warm abattoir areas with pungent smell (feathers, blood).
The applicant should be in good physical condition as the position involves physical work and standing for extended periods.
A willingness to work overtime, incl. shifts, on weekends and holidays when required.
Duties and Responsibilities

Cleaning the DAF unit, feather press, sump pit and feather area.
Ensuring that the equipment is washed, and damaged or broken machines and equipment are reported to the shift controllers.
Assist in inspecting broken shackles & yokes of the airline chiller during start-ups.
Ensuring that the machines are working the entire production time and reporting all failures in time as and when they occur.
Assisting in replacing the plucker fingers during weekend maintenance work.
Ensuring that all valves, scrapers, screen, and pumps are in a good working condition.
Ensuring that the sump pit room is clean and ready for start-up.
Ensuring that the feather area is clean and ready.
Ensuring that the water sieve unit is clean and ready for start-up.
Skills Required

Understanding of production procedures.
Knowledge of health and safety procedures (PPE).
Team player.
Able to work under pressure.
