Introduction
Overberg Water is a Water Board established in terms of section 28 of the Water Services Act, (No 108 of 1997) and is classified as Government Business Enterprise as per Schedule 3B of the Public Finance Management Act (No. 1 of 1999) as amended.

Specification
Regular monitoring, recording, and effective communication of important operational parameters and incidents through both traditional and electronic systems
Formal and informal meeting attendance or reporting of process parameters and incidents
Ability to calculate, analyse and interpret water quality and unit process parameters
Structured communication/liaison in response to queries and complaints from interested stakeholders
Ensure adherence to the OHS Act requirements on-site at all times
Conduct water quality tests to ensure drinking water/effluent meet the requirements of the relevant standard as set out in the National Water Act, Regulations, and Water licenses
Keep inventory of all plant consumables required for operational activities, housekeeping, and any other activities identified within the plant
Carry out reasonable and lawful instructions given by the line manager or supervisor within the ambit of the position taking into account competencies and operational requirements
Safeguard of the plant assets at Public Works sites
Although based at a specific facility, incumbents may need to rotate/travel to other sites and/or areas based on business operational demands

Requirements
Grade 12 or Matric and/or relevant training
Basic Water Care and/or Waste Water care operation certificate advantageous
Unendorsed code B driver’s license
Excellent communication, writing, and people skills
Ensuring ethical standards adherence to statutory requirements of all legislations
Willingness to work shifts and physical fits
At least 12-month experience in drinking water and/or waste treatment water facilities or similar
Process Operator/Controller Class I/II/III advantageous
